One dead, 15 wounded in Russian attack on clinic in Dnipro

At least one person was killed and 15 others injured, including two children, in a Russian attack that hit a clinic in Dnipro, a city in east-central Ukraine, on Friday, local authorities said.

“Missile attack on a clinic in the city of Dnipro. One person was killed and 15 others were injured,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the Telegram social network.

Zelensky posted a video showing badly damaged buildings covered in columns of black smoke.

“We must defeat these inhuman beings,” Zelensky said of the Russian army.

Regional Governor Sergey Lyssak said two children, ages three and six, were among the injured.

“The rescue of the wounded continues,” the governor added on Telegram, adding that the attack set fire to two buildings.

“The fire affected a total of 500 square meters. Firefighters are fighting the flames,” Lyssak said.

Ukrainian Telegram channels posted videos of rescuers helping injured people escape the clinic through rubble-strewn corridors.

According to Lyssak, the Dnipropetrovsk region was “heavily attacked” overnight and early this Friday “with Russian missiles and drones.”

In Dnipro, the regional capital, overnight shelling burned down several houses and a gas station.

Since the beginning of May, Russia has intensified its airstrikes, often at night, against Ukraine.

kyiv has suffered 13 nightly attacks since the beginning of the month, according to authorities, who said they had repelled all the attacks.

Across the country, the Ukrainian military announced that it had shot down ten of 17 missiles and 23 of 31 Shahed ‘drones’ launched tonight by Russia.

The night before, all 36 Russian Shahed drones were destroyed, according to the Ukrainian air force.
