Reports of drone attacks in Moscow and Kiev

Local authorities in Kiev and Moscow have denounced Tuesday’s drone strikes.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the Russian capital was hit by a drone strike that caused “minor damage” to several buildings.

“Early this morning, a drone strike caused minor damage to several buildings. All the city’s emergency services are on scene,” Sobyanin wrote on the Telegram platform.

The official indicated that there were no serious injuries and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Residents of two buildings affected by the attack were evacuated. “Immediately after completion of the work by the special services, the residents can return to their apartments,” said Sobyanin.

It is the most serious attack on Moscow since May 2, when Russia denounced a new attack on the Kremlin, also involving drones, for which Russian leaders blamed Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities announced that at least one person has been killed and several injured in a “massive attack” by Russian drones on Kiev this morning.

Preliminary data shows that more than 20 Iranian-made Shahed drones were intercepted and destroyed by air defense forces, Kyiv’s military government said.

Debris from the drones fell on a multi-storey building in the Holosiivsky district in the south of the Ukrainian capital. “One person died, an elderly woman was hospitalized, two victims were treated on the spot,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram platform.

Still according to the civil and military administration of Kiev, 20 people have been removed from the building in question. “The top two floors have been destroyed, there may be people under the rubble,” the organization added on Telegram.

Earlier in the evening, Klitschko had announced that a 27-year-old woman has been hospitalized after falling debris, also in Holosiivsky.

Authorities say the night attack was carried out using drones, and other debris that fell set fire to a house in the Darnytskyi district, also in the south of the city, and three cars in the central Pechersky district. Debris also landed on a business in the Svyatoshynskyi district of western Kiev.

Air warning sirens sounded at night in the Ukrainian capital and in the regions of Cherkasy (center), Kirovohrad, Mykolayiv and Kherson (south).

Russian missiles were launched in broad daylight in Kiev on Monday, creating panic in the streets after another night of bombing. Several residents took refuge in underground shelters, mainly in the subway facilities.
