The German police have announced this Thursday that they are examining the “various elements” collected at the Arade dam, in Silves, during the three days of searches related to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
On the last day of the raid, May 25, the Judicial Police (PJ) revealed that the operation resulted in the “collection of some material” that would be “delivered to the German authorities” for “expertise.”
And that is exactly what the German authorities have promised to do, the prosecutor’s office for the German city of Brunswick announced this morning, quoted by Sky News, noting that it is not yet known whether the objects found are of interest to the investigation.
“Several items were seized as part of the operation. They will be analyzed in the coming days and weeks (…) It is not yet possible to say if some of the articles are really related to the Madeleine McCann case”.
The search operation at the Arade dam to try to find evidence that could unravel the disappearance of the British child was carried out under the coordination of the PJ and involved elements of the German and British authorities.
A source close to the investigation told Reuters the operation was linked to photographs of the dam found in a hideout of suspect Christian Bruckner, a German national arrested for rape who was living in the Algarve when Madeleine McCann disappeared in 2007.
The Arade dam is located about 50 kilometers from where the British girl, who was three years old at the time, disappeared while on vacation with her parents and siblings in Praia da Luz.
“The investigation carried out in Brunswick against the 48-year-old suspect is expected to continue for some time,” the German city prosecutor also revealed, referring to Christian Bruckner.
