Two people were killed this Friday after a bombing raid in Russia’s Belgorod region, on the border with Ukraine, the target of fierce attacks and attempted raids in recent days.
“The shrapnel hit vehicles passing by the stricken area. Two women who were in one of the cars died of their injuries,” Belgorod regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
“Two people were injured in a second vehicle. One man was injured by shrapnel in the chest and another in the lower extremities,” the governor added.
Gladkov reported that the bombings hit a street in the town of Maslova Pristan, a few miles from the town of Shebekino, the target of several attacks this week.
According to the governor, other locations in the region were also hit by bombardments, causing only material damage.
On Thursday, the Russian army said it had prevented another Ukrainian ground attack in the border area with the help of artillery and aviation. Residents of the affected areas sought temporary shelter.
