The diplomatic representation also warned that the Russian authorities could “begin to deny dual citizenship to Americans and access to consular assistance to prevent them from leaving the country” after announcing, on the 21st, the partial mobilization.

“US citizens should not travel to Russia and those residing in the country or on Russian territory should leave immediately,” the US embassy said in the statement, specifying that the diplomatic representation will provide all relevant information on the possibilities. access to Russia. neighbor countries.

In this sense, the embassy reminded US citizens that “freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly are not guaranteed in Russia”, urging them to “avoid protests and take pictures of security forces in the context of this type of events”.

“Russian authorities have already arrested Russian citizens who participated in demonstrations,” he said.

Also today, Poland and Bulgaria called on their citizens to leave Russia as soon as possible, using available means of transport.

The governments in Warsaw and Sofia fear that it will be increasingly difficult to leave Russian territory.

Moscow’s announcement last week to mobilize 300,000 reservists is triggering the exodus of large numbers of Russian men of military age who refuse to fight in Ukraine, which has been the target of a Russian military offensive since last February.
