Group leader Wagner accuses Russian unit of attacking his paramilitaries

The head of the paramilitary organization Wagner announced on Monday that he had arrested a Russian officer whose unit allegedly attacked his men, highlighting tensions between the group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin and the regular Russian army.

“On 17 May men from the Ministry of Defence [russo] We have seen ways behind the positions of the Wagner units,” Prigozhin wrote in a report sent by the paramilitary group to the ministry today.

Elements of the Wagner group clearing mines “were engaged by fire from Ministry of Defense positions”according to the same source quoted by the French agency AFP.

The leader of the paralimit group said in an audio recording that many facts could not be made public, but he sent a preliminary report with video evidence.

Wagner’s boss also released video of the interrogation of the alleged Russian official who introduced himself as “Commander of the 72nd Motorized Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Roman Vinevitenov”, who admitted to attacking the group, adding that he acted “in a state of drunkenness, guided by a personal animosity”.

Last Saturday, Prigozhin accused Moscow troops of ceding territory in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine and has been the target of heavy bombing and ground attacks in recent days.
