A bridge under construction across India’s Ganges River has collapsed for the second time in 14 months.
One person is missing after the accident that occurred in Bhagalpur district, Bihar state, in the eastern part of the country, Reuters partner ANI news agency reported Monday.
The deputy chairman of the district administration, Amit Raj, stated that the bridge was not built properly.

Construction should be completed in 2019 but has suffered several delays, including an initial collapse on April 30 last year due to high winds and rain.
“There was a huge commotion here, it looked like there was an explosion. Later we found out that the bridge had collapsed,” Rakesh Kumar, a local resident, told ANI.
The local government announced the opening of an investigation.
