Two of the four children injured after an attack by a man in a playground in Annecy, in the French Alps, remain in “critical condition,” the French government reported this morning.
President Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by his wife, will visit the victims this Friday, after yesterday describing the attack as “an act of cowardice.” The perpetrator of the attack, a 31-year-old man, was arrested red-handed by the police.
He is a Syrian citizen who has had refugee status for ten years, granted by Sweden. He had applied for political asylum in France, but the application was rejected. The suspect will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
The monsignor who supervises the parish of Annecy announced a mass in honor of the victims, in the Cathedral of the city located in the French Alps, next to the border with Switzerland.
