The Pope remains convalescing and maintains his work activities at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where he underwent surgery on his abdomen, the Vatican reported Monday.
“The medical team reports that Pope Francis’ postoperative period continues to be normal, observing the medical prescriptions,” Vatican press officer Matteo Bruni said in a statement.
Francisco “continues to eat normally” and “this morning he received the Holy Eucharist, then dedicating himself to his work activities,” adds Bruni.
On Sunday, the Pope was able to get up, take a few steps, work and even pray the Angelus in the chapel of the private apartment, located on the tenth floor of the hospital.
On Saturday, the medical team advised Francisco to remain hospitalized for at least this week, for his full recovery.
Audiences with the Pope in the Vatican have been suspended until June 18.
