Brazil: Dating After Dying Cascading Water Blue For ‘Gender Reveal Party’

The Brazilian Ministry of the Environment has opened an investigation to determine if the products used to dye the waterfall’s water have contaminated the source.

The party could well cost them dearly. The Brazilian Ministry of the Environment has opened an investigation after the release of a video showing a couple in front of a waterfall dyed blue.

It was filmed on September 25 during a “gender reveal party” (“gender reveal party” in French) a few kilometers from Tangará da Serra in Brazil, indicates the Brazilian media Midia Jur. These celebrations cause a furor on social networks and future parents redouble their imagination so that the color pink (for a girl) or blue (for a boy) is revealed in the most original way possible.

First posted on Instagram, the video sparked outrage from internet users, forcing the couple to remove it. But recordings have been made and one of the copies has already been viewed more than 3 million times on Twitter.

We see the couple – unidentified according to The Independent – in front of a several-meter-tall swan made of white balloons and a large blue and pink question mark.

An open investigation

The Brazilian authorities take the video very seriously because the Queima Pé river is an important source of water for the neighboring city of Tangará da Serra, hit by periods of drought that have affected the flow of the river, specifies the British media.

The Secretary of State for the Environment of Mato Grosso (SEMA) said in a statement that it would investigate the couple to determine if the products used for the dye were harmful to the environment.
