Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky said Monday (12) that his troops’ counter-offensive against Russia was “difficult” but assured that Ukrainian troops are “advancing”.
“The fighting is difficult, but we are moving forward, that is very important,” Zelensky said during his daily speech. “I thank our boys for every Ukrainian flag returning to its rightful place in the villages of the newly reoccupied territories,” the president added, after his government announced that the Ukrainian army had recaptured seven Russian-held sites.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Malyar, the villages of Lobkovo, Levadne and Novodarivka, near Zaporijia, have been recaptured, as has Storozheve, in the south of the Donetsk region. “The area of the territory returned to our control is 90 km²,” Malyar informed.
The Ukrainian army also said on Monday it was advancing in the Bakhmut region. “Ukrainian troops advanced 250 to 700 meters towards Bakhmut,” the defense ministry said.
