As kyiv’s counter-offensive is launched, Vladimir Putin on Tuesday admitted mistakes in his “special operation” launched in Ukraine. The Russian president first said that the military offensive has exposed the lack of high-precision munitions and drones in Russia’s arsenal.
“It became clear that several things were missing: high-precision munitions, communication equipment, drones,” Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Russian war correspondents.
“We have some, but unfortunately not in sufficient quantity,” he added.
“Better prepared”
Russia could have been “better prepared” for drone and artillery attacks on its territory from Ukraine, which have multiplied in recent weeks, the Russian president also said.
“Of course, the border must be strengthened (…). You could be better prepared for this,” he said.
Russia’s Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, has been the target of several artillery and drone attacks in recent weeks, as well as a raid by gunmen.
