A wave of impressive news. In total, the Renault group (Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands) plans 20 new models by 2025. An essential element of the strategy of Luca de Meo, head of the French group for three years, and guest at Good Morning Business this Monday, August 28.
After a favorable context in terms of financial margins in recent years, the automotive sector is preparing for a period of turbulence, particularly in the face of the price war and the transition to electricity. For the head of Renault, these 20 new models planned will precisely make it possible to face increasingly strong competition:
“The advantage we have is that we will have a very significant product effect, if ever there is tension on the price side. Mechanically, when we have new products, there is a positive effect on margins,” Luca de Meo underlined.
The new Scénic presented at the beginning of September
First step: the new Scénic, which becomes an SUV and 100% electric. It will be presented at the Munich fair, which will be held from September 5 to 10. A very important model historically for Luca de Meo:
“In 1996 I was at Renault for the first time and we launched the Scénic, a car that changed the market and the history of Renault. It was underestimated, even internally and I hope history repeats itself. It is a very important product, with a very important name. heavy.”
It specifies that the production version that will be released will be very similar to the concept car presented at the beginning of 2022.
Another long-awaited novelty is the new R5, which will be launched next year to succeed the Zoe. With a big unknown around this model: its price, expected to be below 30,000 euros.
