Alfa Romeo, 100% electric brand in 2027

Although the brand no longer had a basic model, the Milano “will constitute a gateway to the world of Alfa Romeo,” the manufacturer specifies. This small sports SUV will be “the first milestone in the brand’s transition process to electric.” “Like the Tonale, it has the important task of further strengthening Alfa Romeo’s global presence,” stressed Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato during the event organized by the brand this week.

After the Milano, Alfa Romeo will present in 2025 its first vehicle marketed only with a 100% electric version (which suggests that the Milano will also have thermal engines). The ultimate goal is to become a 100% electric brand in 2027. The characteristic purring of Biscione engines (the Alfa Romeo symbol, a snake) is over.

If Alfa sees an electric future, it also wants to reposition itself at the top of the range, within the premium Stellantis division, which it forms with DS and Lancia. The brand thus presented a new exclusive model at the beginning of 2023, the 33 Stradale, an ultra-sporty and custom-made model.

Alfa Romeo sales increase 34% from January 2023
