Given the success of social leasing, the government has decided to curb rates by 2024. Popularized with the formula of an electric car at 100 euros per month, rentals actually vary from 40 to 150 euros, depending on whether we opt for a small car urban or a more familiar model.
But be careful, this is a cost that excludes insurance, recalls the neoinsurance company Leocare in a study presented this Tuesday. This study precisely evaluates the cost of 17 models eligible for this system and according to 3 different driver profiles (study methodology at the end of the article). This ultimately translates into a total monthly cost of between 86 and 264 euros, insurance included.
A simple cost that doubles depending on the profile
“A 38-year-old woman, a civil servant, who lives in a house in Rennes, with a vehicle parked outside, who makes private and home trips, with a 50% bonus, without claims for the last 3 years, will have to pay Pay 86 .67 euros per month for a Renault Twingo E-Tech”, highlights Leocare, to present the most advantageous rental.
With another profile, “a 23-year-old man, dependent, living in Boulogne-Billancourt, with a vehicle parked on the street, who makes private trips and to work, with a coefficient of 0.76, without complaints in the last 3 years”, this cost practically doubles, up to 158.40 euros per month.
Insurance is sometimes more expensive than rent
The Twingo is not the only one that sees its real cost skyrocket if we take insurance into account.
In the Peugeot e-208, the Nissan Leaf, the Volkswagen ID.3 and e-up!, the Cupra Born and the Hyundai Kona, the cost of insurance exceeds that of social leasing for at least one profile tested by Leocare. This is the case of the three insured profiles of a Fiat 500e.
