It is the return of Lancia. Abandoned for many years, the Italian brand (now owned by Stellantis) presented this Wednesday the first model of a new range: the Ypsilon. The city car returns in a 100% electric version
“With the new Lancia Ypsilon, the first vehicle of the brand’s new era, we are relaunching it starting from Italy,” declared its general director Luca Napolitano during its presentation at the Cassina facilities in Milan.
400 kilometers of autonomy
A nod to Lancia’s prestigious past, the silhouette of the new Ypsilon follows the smooth, rounded shapes of the legendary Aurelia sedan of the 1950s, updated with more modern styling.
A reminder of the past, Lancia takes up the emblematic round rear lights of its Stratos sports car, the king of rallies in the 70s, now LED and characterized by the letter Y. Inspired by the Beta Montecarlo sports car, also from the 70s, the grille has been revisited in a rather futuristic style, marked by three rays of LED light.

Powered by a 156 horsepower/115 kW 100% electric motor, the new Ypsilon promises a range of up to 403 kilometers and a recharge from 20 to 80% in 24 minutes. An electric sports version with 240 horsepower will arrive in 2025.
The new Ypsilon, the first premium vehicle in the B1 segment from Stellantis, is now on sale in Italy, where reservations have exceeded expectations, according to Luca Napolitano. During the summer, it will also be marketed in the Netherlands and Belgium, then in France and Spain at the end of the year and in Germany in 2025. A hybrid version will be launched in the coming weeks.
A model that has become legendary
Relaunching with the Ypsilon is a nod to history for Lancia. After gradually withdrawing from all its foreign markets, Lancia only sold one model, this small Ypsilon, and only in Italy, where it was number 3 in sales behind the Fiat Panda and the Dacia Sandero, with 44,743 units sold last year.
The latest from Stellantis will initially be available in Italy in 1,906 copies, a limited series designed in collaboration with the designer furniture brand Cassina. This number remembers the year Lancia was founded.

Two more models to come
With the new Ypsilon, Lancia builds a new range. A “flagship” will follow in 2026 in a 100% electric version. Called Gamma, this crossover halfway between sedan and SUV will be Lancia’s flagship model. Another electric car is announced for 2028, a compact sports car called “Delta”, like its illustrious predecessor from the 80s, eagerly awaited by rally fans.
