Lidl launches into cycling. The German distributor will put two models on sale on its website starting March 25. Electrically assisted bicycles (VAE) under its Crivit sports brand.
Features in detail
The first, “Urban E-Bike X”, has a high frame, the second, “Urban E-Bike Y”, a low step. In its press release, Lidl highlights its minimalist design with a matte-colored frame.
The LG battery with a capacity of 360 Wh promises a maximum range of 100 km and a charging time of 3.5 hours. This battery is built into the seat post and can be easily removed or replaced for recharging.
We also find in the rear hub a Mivice M080 Rear Hub motor with a torque sensor that adapts the necessary power: “the more you step on the pedals, the more assistance the rear wheel hub motor provides,” summarizes Lidl.
The dealer also mentions a Gates carbon belt, with the promise of very good durability and no need for maintenance before 20,000 km. The bikes are also equipped with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and puncture-proof Schwalbe tires.
A button integrated into the frame allows you to choose between three assistance styles: Eco, Tour or Race, as well as a Boost of up to 20 seconds.
From €1,199
Lidl specifies that its bicycles will be sold exclusively online starting next Monday at the introductory price of 1,199 euros. Bicycles that can benefit from state aid or local authorities to reduce the bill.
The distributor will also market a wide range of accessories dedicated to this cycling world, such as clothing, helmets, locks and even multifunction tools.
