If we are more accustomed to seeing a baby seat in a car, it is quite rare to see one installed in the driver’s seat. However, this is the setting for this speed (and precocity) record achieved by the young Zayn Sofuoglu.
The 5-year-old boy exceeded 300 km/h at the wheel of a Lamborghini Revuelto, the replacement for the Aventador. A feat achieved on an airfield track, with a long straight line. There are no tricks a priori, it is the child who accelerates with accelerator and brake pedals adapted for the occasion so that he can reach them. And to change gear, the paddles on the steering wheel are already within reach, but just barely!
1,015 horsepower V12
Next to him, in the passenger seat, is his father, Kenan Sofuoglu, a Turkish motorcycle racer who has five Supersport world titles to his name, between 2007 and 2016. He is the one who manages his son’s Instagram account, where he recounts his mechanical problems and exploits since his first steps… in karting, with a first post published in October 2021.
“Zayn, aged 5 years and 128 days, became the fastest child in the world with a speed of 312 km/h,” reads the text accompanying the Instagram post.
A feat that merited a few donuts on the track after reaching such a speed. The boy, who had already taken the wheel of a Ferrari SF90 Stradale at the beginning of 2023, does not seem really impressed by this monster equipped with a V12 supplemented by three electric motors. Enough to offer a power of 1,015 horsepower, with a 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h.
His father obviously passed on his passion for mechanics to him, with some victories in karting or motorcycles, Carscoops notes.
