The day after the confirmation of a new death in Guadalupe, linked to a defective airbag takata, in a Toyota Hilux vehicle, the brand distributor in the archipelago said Tuesday that more than 2,700 vehicles were still affected. The company also announced the celebration of a press conference on June 3 to “reach the maximum of owners” still worried.
Beyond Toyota, other brands are affected by these defective airbags, starting with Citroën, which has led a stop campaign for its vehicles for several months.
Eleven deaths identified abroad
The Foreign Ministry requested the regrouping of the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIR) of Paris of all the surveys carried out on the consequences of the failures of these airbags, in particular those related to the homicide. Until Monday’s announcement of a new victim linked to these Takata air bags, the Ministry of Transportation listed 29 accidents that caused 11 deaths abroad and one in Continental France.
Due to a poorly aged gas, Takata Airbags is likely to fail exploiting pieces on the faces of the drivers. Its degradation accelerates under warm and humid climates.
