Europeans no longer buy enough cars. Stellantis will close its Mulhouse factory from October 27 to November 2 to adjust the production to a difficult market in Europe, a automotive group spokesman said on Tuesday, September 30. Some 2,000 people work on this site, which manufactures Peugeot 308 and 408 and DS7, he said.
The manufacturer has already announced the arrest of its Poissy factory, for three weeks this time, from October 13 to 31. Its 2,000 employees will be partial and vacation unemployment, due to a “difficult market in Europe.”
And similar measures will be taken in several other European sites. Five other factories will also stop for one or three weeks, also due to this depressed European automotive market: Eisenach sites in Germany, Zaragoza and Madrid in Spain, Tychy in Poland and Pomigliano in Italy.
