How have fuel prices evolved for the purpose of discounts since January 1? As expected, the increase is significant, according to the statement from the Ministry of Ecological Transition published on Monday, with prices set for Friday, January 6.
Compared to December 30, diesel increased by more than 13 cents, to stand on average in France at 1.8994 euros per liter. The rise is greater for 95 E10 unleaded gasoline, which takes 19.2 cents to settle at 1.8346 euros per liter.
The gap thus narrows between diesel and gasoline, although the curves should not cross again any time soon.
If we look at the evolution of prices in recent months, diesel thus finds a price that it has not reached since the end of November, after the previous reduction in government and Totalenergies rebates. As for gasoline, you have to go back to the end of July to find an unleaded 95 E10 at more than 1.80 euros per liter.
It should be noted that these increases, linked to the end of fuel discounts, occur in a context of relatively low oil prices. North Sea Brent fell another $2.9 to $78.8 a barrel last week.
