The Banque de France published its recommendations on Tuesday on access to payment for people with disabilities. Among its recommendations are the provision of ATMs at the height of people in wheelchairs or the maintenance of keyboards in payment terminals.
The challenge of these recommendations is, in particular, to ensure that technological innovations in terms of payment are well adapted to people with disabilities.
Improper dynamic crypto cards
This is not the case, for example, of cards with a dynamic cryptogram (whose 3-digit series on the back changes regularly at random), which are difficult to use in case of visual impairment, or, for the same public, terminals of payment with touch screens and virtual keyboards that do not offer touch signals. The CNMP also insists on the provision of ATMs and payment terminals at a good height for people in wheelchairs.
The banking community, through a representative of the professional federation, the FBF, is a signatory to the letter. The central bank has also endorsed the merger of two entities: the National Committee for Cashless Payments (CNPS) and the Cash Sector Steering Committee (CP2F). Its prerogatives will now be exercised by the newly created CNMP. This work on accessibility was carried out by the CNPS with representatives of the Valentin Haüy Foundation and the France Handicap association.
