Eni admits her mistakes and promises to make amends. The Italian electricity provider confirmed on Monday that it will refund nearly 50 million euros to its customers until the end of 2023. This sum, which will have to be distributed among the French affected by billing errors, was brought forward on Monday RMC by the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
The energy company has committed to the payment of “a second tranche of additional aid that, according to estimates, will reach a total amount of about 50 million euros by the end of 2023.”

At issue: the misapplication of government aid, in particular the energy tariff shield implemented by the State in the fall of 2021 to contain the bill for the French. In total, 100,000 customer accounts were affected and did not benefit from all this aid, the minister said Monday in RMC.
In recent weeks, many customers of the electric company Eni have complained about receiving exorbitant regulatory bills, especially on social media. These complaints had earned the group a summons from the Ministry of Energy Transition last Wednesday.
Asked about the case of Engie, another supplier summoned to her ministry last week, Agnès Pannier-Runacher indicated that it was “a different situation” and that she had asked the company “to verify that there is no anomaly” and “that verify that customers have been informed” of the increase in their electricity bill.
