United front against the Descrozaille law. A few days after Alexandre Bompard, head of Carrefour, it is the turn of Dominique Schelcher, president of System U, to ask for a moratorium on the Descrozaille law that should come into force next January.
This law aims to limit certain non-food promotions in supermarkets to 34%, particularly hygiene products.
And to explain: “what is at stake is one of the provisions of this law that says ‘less promotions on hygiene products’, while these are in difficulty for a certain number of French people”.
“Win a Year”
“The idea is to save a year and allow us to continue making important promotions on these products,” continues the manager.
In a letter dated August 31, Frédéric Descrozaille responds to the great publicity in general and Alexandre Bompard in particular. The deputy invites the sector to activate other levers at his disposal and is ironic about the method and the moment.
“Some might think that this is a communication operation that pays little attention to the principle of separation of powers and respect for parliamentary work, but for my part I do not give the slightest importance to this hateful assumption,” he wrote.
