In a statement released this Wednesday, the Portuguese airline stated that “was the victim of a cyber attack, an act that was promptly reported to the appropriate authorities. Allegations are made public today by an organized computer crime that customer data has been stolen”.
“TAP, with the support of an international third-party entity and in consultation with the authorities, continues to take all appropriate containment and recovery measures to protect the company and its customers,” highlighted today’s note from the Portuguese airline.
TAP was the target of a cyberattack last Thursday night, but the airline said flight security was guaranteed and it could not determine whether there was unauthorized access to customer data.
“TAP’s security mechanisms were immediately activated and unauthorized access blocked,” the airline said in a note released Friday.
“TAP’s contingency plan remains active and the company is working with the appropriate authorities on this matter,” the same statement underlined.
