Two decrees that exceptionally authorize the transport of hydrocarbons this weekend and Monday and temporarily relax the driving time limitations of drivers in this sector were published this Saturday in the Official Gazette, given the shortage in many service stations.
Given the “tensions in the supply of fuel observed in national territory”, the prohibitions on the circulation of transport vehicles of more than 7.5 tons provided for by a previous decree of April 2021 for the days 8, 9 and 10 were lifted. October. 2022, for “vehicles for the transport of hydrocarbon products, with the exception of butane, propane and gases for industrial use”.
In addition, “the empty return of the aforementioned vehicles is authorized” for these days when the ban is lifted in national territory.
exceptions
The second decree published on Saturday provides for “temporary exceptions” of “exceeding the maximum daily driving time at the limit of one hour” and “exceeding the maximum weekly driving time at the limit of four hours” for transport fuel. This, until Friday, October 14 inclusive.
On Friday night, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition had announced that a decree would be published “relating to the lifting of fuel transport traffic bans for this weekend”, as well as another on “flexibility of action times ” to facilitate replacement.
“France has 90 days of consumption in strategic stocks throughout its territory and the supply prospects for the coming weeks and months make it possible to rule out any risk of lasting shortages,” the ministry also wanted to reassure.
calls for calm
Emmanuel Macron on Friday called motorists to “calm” as several factors, including a strike at TotalEnergies refineries, caused a drop in fuel deliveries and therefore many shortages of gasoline or diesel at stations. of service.
The group blames the inconvenience on account of the success of the discount on the 20-cent pump that it grants since September 1, in addition to the State bonus of 30 cents.
“The discount caused more marked supply interruptions in Total”, with a situation “more marked in Hauts-de-France (…) because we have cross-border workers who came to take advantage of the prices at the gas station and the aid that has been put launched by the government”, commented the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu, interviewed on Franceinfo on Saturday.
