As of November 8, an energy check will be paid to homes that heat with fuel oil

Promised, fulfilled, the government announces its support system for home heating with fuel oil.

As of November 8, an energy check of 100 to 200 euros will be paid to half of the households that heat with diesel, or around 1.6 million households. An endowment of 230 million euros will be allocated to him (it is the result of the modification of the finance law voted this summer).

The amount of the fuel oil energy check will depend on the household income (2020 income is taken into account for the calculation) and the number of people in the household.

Simulator

– 200 euros for a single person with minimum wage with at least one child
– 100 euros for a single person with minimum wage without children
– 100 euros for a single woman with 2 children who earns approx. 3000 euros net/month

A simulator will soon be put online on the website https://chequeenergie.gouv.fr/ so that households can verify their eligibility.

“To facilitate the payment of this aid, the energy check payment circuits will be used: automatic sending of the check at the end of November for households that have already used an energy check to pay a fuel bill in the past,” he details. Bercy

Other eligible households will be able to apply at a dedicated online counter that will be open from November 8. You just have to present a fuel bill to receive the aid the following month.

Consult usable for other energies

This fuel aid is not applicable to already paid fuel bills. However, interested households should not wait for this energy check to be sent to fill up their fuel tank, the government advises.

“Indeed, this fuel aid, which takes the form of an energy check, can be used to pay all kinds of energy bills (gas, electricity, fuel oil, wood pellets, etc.). when they receive the check they will therefore not lose the benefit of the aid: they will be able to use that check to pay their electricity bill or their next fuel bill, for example, and this until March 2024”, can be read in a note from press. release.

It is also possible to request fuel oil suppliers, according to their cash flow capacity, to distribute the payments in various installments.

Finally, Bercy recalls that for most households, this fuel aid will be added to the usual energy check, sent in spring to some 6 million households, and the exceptional end-of-year energy check that will be sent to 40% of households (12 million households).
