Fuel prices: which gas stations already offer cost price operations?

Emmanuel Macron asked fuel distributors to sell at cost price to lower prices at the pump. However, some did not wait for the president’s statements to implement a similar system.

The request comes from the top of the State. Emmanuel Macron on Sunday asked distributors to sell fuel at cost price and not at a loss as the executive initially wanted. During an interview with TF1 and France 2, the President of the Republic explained that Elisabeth Borne was going to “bring together all the actors in the sector this week and ask them to do things at cost price.”

Prices at the pump have been rising since the beginning of summer. According to data from carbu.com, the SP95-E10 has an average price of 1.95 euros this Monday, September 25. SP-98 already exceeds 2 euros per liter. Diesel rose to 1.94 euros compared to 1.88 last week.

If small service stations already rejected the Head of State’s request, some distributors did not wait for him to offer operations at cost price. Keep in mind, however, that these discounts will have a limited impact on drivers’ wallets. It is estimated that the benefit will be between 2 and 3 cents per liter.

Carrefour: cost price from September 29

The mass distribution brand is committed to offering its customers fuel at cost price from this Friday, September 29 until the end of 2023.

The group chaired by Alexandre Bompard assures that it is “the largest fuel sale operation at cost in its history.”

The head of the large distribution brand, Michel-Edouard Leclerc, announced this Tuesday that the 750 service stations of the Leclerc hypermarkets “will sell gasoline daily at cost price” starting September 29.

Intermarché, one weekend a month

The brand has announced that it will launch a fuel sales operation at cost price one weekend a month until the end of the year. To take advantage of it, motorists must go to the station on September 29 and 30, that is, next weekend, but also on October 27 and 28, during school holidays, November 24 and 25, and December 15 and 16. .

Casino, every weekend until October 22

The Casino group has also launched an operation of this type. It takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, until October 22. “Other operations could be planned later, but the modalities have not yet been determined,” the management told the Parisian.

The U system does the same.

Système U CEO Dominique Schelcher announced a first weekend with the same principle, on October 7 and 8. “I heard the call from Elisabeth Borne and the government to find solutions to the increase in fuel prices. As a distributor, our mobilization remains intact,” he declared on X (formerly Twitter) last Wednesday.

Auchan in retreat

Auchan has not currently planned operations of this type.

Totalenergies maintains the limit at 1.99 euros per liter
