Concern about the proliferation of bed bugs in the Paris region has been broadcast in recent days by several foreign media, less than 300 days before the opening of the Olympic Games. Invited this Wednesday by Cà vous on France 5, Clément Beaune wanted to reassure by stating that “there is no resurgence or infestation” of these pests in transport.
Clément Beaune thus announced “a kind of great spring cleaning that adds to everything we are doing today so that public transport, especially in Ile-de-France, is treated” before the Olympic Games. If specific protocols already exist today, such as cleaning SNCF trains every 60 days, “we will carry out an extraordinary operation to control and clean even more” before the opening of the Olympic Games in July 2024.
Beaune will bring together companies at the end of the month
The Minister of Transport also stated that he had asked the operators he received this Wednesday “to strengthen the detection” of bed bugs. In addition, “I am going to organize a kind of conference on solutions at the end of the month,” with “specialized” companies, “because there are more and more innovations” that allow us to fight more effectively against the proliferation of these insects.
“We will also allow transport operators to exchange good practices and good protocols among themselves” and act to “have” processing companies “that are even more efficient”, concluded Clément Beaune.
