Inflation in Germany slowed significantly again in October, to 3.8% year-on-year. It thus reached its lowest level since August 2021, after an unprecedented series of interest rate increases by the European Central Bank, according to figures published on Monday. The increase in consumer prices was reduced by 0.7 percentage points compared to the month of September, the statistics institute Destatis reported in a press release.
As for the GDP of Europe’s largest economy, it fell slightly in the third quarter. But the indicator contracted 0.1%, while economists anticipated a 0.3% drop.
