“Happy travels and best wishes”: the SNCF warns of a scam on WhatsApp

This is a fake contest that promises a year of free trips, warns the operator, who invites you not to click on the link.

The end of the year is always conducive to online scams. Although the main objective is the delivery of packages, other sectors, such as transportation, are no exception to the rule.

While many French people want to buy a train ticket for the holidays, SNCF Voyageurs warns of a fake contest that is proliferating on WhatsApp and that promises free trips “for a year” for “1,000 lucky people.”

“A fake contest titled “Happy Travels and Best Wishes” is currently circulating on several social networks. This is a scam. We recommend that you do not open the link or spread it. Thank you for your vigilance,” we can read in a tweet transmitted for X this Sunday.

A little vigilance will allow you to quickly spot the scam as the clickable link will take you to the domain [email protected]. The message is spread through contact lists and aims to steal personal data (phishing), in particular the victim’s bank declaration of identity.
