The number of unemployed people registered with employment agencies increased by 5.3% in November

The number of unemployed people registered in labor centers rose again in November by 5.3% year-on-year and by 3% compared to the previous month, to 312,310 people, according to data released this Wednesday by the IEFP.

According to the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP) “As of the end of November 2023, 312,310 unemployed people were registered with the employment services of the mainland and autonomous regions, a number representing 66.4% of a total of 470,603 applications”.

As he indicated, “the total number of unemployed people registered in the country was higher than in the same month of 2022 (+15,587; +5.3%) and in the previous month (+8,954; +3.0%)”and “to the increase in registered unemployment, compared to the same month in 2022, those registered for less than twelve months contributed in absolute variation (+21,855)”.

On the other hand, he emphasized: “There is a decrease in the number of people registered for 12 or more months in the employment placement file (-6,268)”.
