Tourism companies will be able to obtain the “destination of excellence” seal if they guarantee a “high level of quality of welcome and services”, as well as a “high level of demand in terms of sustainable development and environmental protection”, according to a decree published on Saturday.
The decree that creates this seal, published in the Official Gazette, details the labeling criteria: “the quality of the reception and services, including comfort, knowledge and interpersonal skills of operators and staff, mastery of foreign languages, the quality of the information delivered to tourist clients as well as the monitoring of their satisfaction.”

But also “the level of demand of the measures adopted to protect the environment and promote eco-responsible tourism.”
Eligible companies are accommodation, restaurants, leisure, places to visit, information and transportation, adds the decree, signed by the Ministry of Business, Tourism and Tourist Consumption.
The system is managed by Atout France and comes into force on May 1. Once granted, this label will be valid for five years and may be renewed.
