Bad luck for Boeing and Air France. For the second time in three days, a French company plane, built by the American manufacturer, had to make an emergency landing due to the smell of heat that was perceived in the cabin.
The flight Air France 021, carried out by a Boeing 777-200 and which initially departed from Los Angeles to Paris Charles-de-Gaulle, was routed to Montréal, au Canada, and was posted at 10:13 p.m. today, 9 p.m. May.
“The landing was carried out in the presence of firefighters, as required by procedure,” he adds.
Firefighters at the scene
The images spread on the social network X actually show the presence of several fire vehicles on the runway of the Montreal airport.
On-site accommodation solutions were offered to the 315 customers on board the aircraft, as well as replacement flights, in D+1 or D+2.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, May 7, an Air France Boeing 787-900 had already had to make an emergency landing due to a hot smell detected on board. He was then diverted to Iqaluit, in the far north of Canada.
Black series for Boeing
For the American manufacturer, the black series seems endless. A Fedex Express Boeing 767 cargo plane flying from Paris to Istanbul suffered a broken landing gear on Wednesday, May 8. Spectacular, the incident fortunately left no injuries.
On May 9, this time in Senegal, at the Diass international airport near Dakar, a Boeing 737/300 chartered by Air Senegal skidded off the runway during takeoff, causing 11 injuries.
These various incidents occur while Boeing is the subject of several investigations on the other side of the Atlantic, by the American Civil Aviation Agency (FAA), in relation to its 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft.
