Airbus announced on Thursday that it would reorganise its production to focus on “fundamentals” to maintain growth, excluding any “social plans”.
Confirming daily information The tribuneAirbus announced to AFP the launch of an “improvement” programme called LEAD!.
The programme “focuses on the intensification of our core activities” which relate to “commercial aircraft, integrated functions, subsidiaries” as well as our presence in different regions of the world,” the aircraft manufacturer added, without giving further details.
Faced with the difficulties of its supply chain in keeping up with the pace of growth, Airbus has revised down its delivery targets.
Although it had expected to deliver 800 aircraft this year, a volume close to that of 2019, the reference year before the Covid-19 pandemic torpedoed the aeronautical sector, it now plans to deliver only 770.
Some suppliers, weakened by the pandemic, are having to invest and hire to increase their production. Added to this are rising raw material prices, difficulties in accessing certain components and energy costs. According to Airbus, the difficulties are particularly significant in the supply of engines, cabin equipment and even long-distance landing gear.
