On Friday, the deputies had presented more than 2,200 amendments to the Social Security budget, which the National Assembly will debate in a public session starting Monday, after the rejection of the text in committee.
Half of these amendments come from government supporters, particularly the Republican Right group, which presented just under 600, according to the updated count on the Assembly’s website.
The left, for its part, presented nearly 800, the RN and its Ciottista allies a little more than 160 and the government about twenty at this stage.
The total, before the usual financial eligibility limit, clearly exceeds the 1,600 amendments submitted for consideration in the Social Affairs Committee. A volume that extended the examination of the text until Friday morning was finally rejected unanimously.
Several government measures were rejected in committee, even by their supporters in the Assembly, notably the review of company contributions and the freeze of retirement pensions, each of which was intended to save four billion.
The debate in the chamber will resume from the initial bill on Monday afternoon, with a view to a solemn vote scheduled for November 5.
