Located in southern Morocco, in the Guelmin-Oued Noun region, on the Atlantic coast, the “Chbika” project aims to build “1 GW of onshore solar and wind capacity that will boost the production of green hydrogen through electrolysis of water from desalinated waters”. sea and its transformation into 200,000 annual tons of green ammonia for the European market,” the document details.
“This project will constitute the first phase of a development program aimed at creating a global green hydrogen production center,” adds TotalEnergies.
Coordination with Denmark
The TE H2 company, co-founded by Total and the Luxembourg group EREN, will join forces with the Danish shipowner AP Møller and the investment company specialized in wind energy Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
“TE H2 and CIP will be in charge of developing the production of renewable energy (solar, wind, green hydrogen and its derivatives), while AP Møller Capital will develop the port and associated infrastructure,” we can read in the press release.
