After announcing regional editions in Brazil and Tokyo, the Web Summit hopes to move to Africa in 2025 or 2026 as well. The prediction is from Web Summit co-founder and executive chairman Paddy Cosgrave.
“We’ll [levar a Web Summit] for Africa in 2025 or 2026,” Cosgrave said in a news conference on Thursday. “The ambition is to make the Web Summit even more global,” he said. And where could the new regional location of the Web Summit in Africa be located? The CEO of the Web Summit did not name specific locations, but mentioned Dubai as a possibility, bearing in mind that Cosgrave had already promised to bring the technology summit to Africa and the Middle East by the end of 2020 by the end of 2020.
In addition to Africa, the Irish businessman has also revealed his intention to do “something” in China as well, particularly in Beijing.
In addition to the main event that has been taking place in Lisbon for seven years, Web Summit is currently behind the Collision, which takes place in Toronto (Canada), and the RISE, which takes place in Hong Kong (the last edition was in 2019). Beginning in May 2023, the Web Summit brand’s first regional event will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Web Summit is also set to take place in Tokyo, but after the event was canceled this year, no date has yet been set.
