The passage of winter storm Caetano caused numerous power outages in France. Around 150,000 homes were still without electricity this Friday at 2:00 p.m., Enedis told BFMTV.
Storm Caetano caused “a first winter episode of the season, with violent winds and snow,” according to Météo France, causing numerous power outages. In the latter case, the most affected regions were Normandy, Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val de Loire, as well as Corsica.
Back to normal on Sunday afternoon
This Friday at 7 in the morning, “200,000 homes” were still plunged into darkness, declared the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, to BFMTV-RMC. The minister had promised to return to normal on Saturday night for 90% of affected households and “on Sunday night for everyone.”
The intervention time of the teams to restore electricity is explained by the snow, which “is intense”, which “freezes and breaks the lines, so these are complex interventions”, stressed Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
