The tension has never been greater between the first majority group, the Ensemble pour la République (EPR), and the government. The meeting of the group that was to decide on Tuesday on the reduction of charges was quite tense between the legitimist camp and those who defend the confrontation with Matignon.
Government spokesperson Maud Brégeon and Budget Minister Laurent Saint-Martin, although two chemically pure Macronists, took on the pressure in place of Michel Barnier, who was absent.
“I do not agree with the income part, nor with the expenses part, nor with the PLF, nor with the PLFS. “I don’t agree with the method either,” thundered former Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, adding that this was the case. necessary to “support the CMP (joint joint commission)”.
Officially, the EPR has not decided as it should on its position on burden reduction. Negotiations will resume this morning before the opening of the CMP at 2pm in the Assembly.
LR unpicks LR
Things are changing in EPR but also in LR. Yannick Neuder, general rapporteur of the Social Affairs Commission of the National Assembly, will present a drafting proposal (amendment) to eliminate the seven hours of free work voted in the Senate to finance old age. Laurent Wauquiez announced last night that he had reached an agreement with the senators on this point.
This still leaves a 2.5 billion hole in the Social Security accounts, which already have a deficit of almost 20 billion this year… Yesterday afternoon, the LRs were still working on the financial balance sheet of the PLFS. We’re waiting to see what they found to compensate.
