The price differences between brands selling beauty products on e-commerce sites are significant. Here are the main trends that emerge from the Distri Prix Beauté index published for the month of November 2024 by Olivier Dauvers, mass consumption specialist, in collaboration with A3 Distrib.

If we compare the first and last positions in the ranking, My Origines brand beauty products are on average 17.4% cheaper than the market reference price, while the products offered by Marionnaud are 13.2% cheaper. % more expensive.

The methodology used is the following: all products of identical brands present on three e-commerce sites are compared. An average market price is established from the data collected. Each product is then assigned an index based on the average market price. The final index of a brand corresponds to the average of the indexes calculated for all its products. Shipping costs and immediate discounts are not taken into account in the calculation.

Thus, an index of 82.6 for Mis Orígenes means that its prices are 17.4% lower than the “average market price.” On the contrary, Marionnaud, with an index of 113.2, would charge prices 13.2% higher than the “average market price.”

According to the study, below the “average market price” are the following brands: My Origines, with an index of 82.6, Amazon (90), Printemps (94.6), Nocibé (96.8), Beauty Success (98.7). Above the “average market price” we find Sephora (102.4), Passion Beauté (104.7), Galeries Lafayette (107.7), Marionnaud (113.2).
