Company linked to tax havens: Pannier-Runacher denounces “false and slanderous accusations”

The Minister for the Energy Transition was questioned during questions to the government on Tuesday, about the company financed by her father, a former director of Perenco.

Agnès Pannier-Runacher completely denies this. The Minister of Energy Transition denounced this Tuesday “false and slanderous accusations”, after the publication of an investigation that reveals that her children had shares in a company whose funds are domiciled in tax havens.

This issue “has nothing to do with my duties as minister,” said the minister during the session of questions to the Government in the Assembly, in response to a question from the socialist Arthur Delaporte. “So there is nothing hidden, nothing hidden,” he insisted, assuring that the operations in question had been carried out within a legal framework.

No declaration to HATVP

It was also justified in the absence of a statement from the company to the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HAVTP). “Obviously I have complied with the declaration obligations provided for by law, in particular with the HATVP, which expressly establishes that declarations of assets do not refer to the assets of children, including minors,” he argued.

Therefore, Ms. Pannier-Runacher claimed that she had “no connection with the Perenco (petroleum) company”, her father’s former employer, whose Reveal Y investigative europe disclose in particular that it continues to manage certain financial structures there.

He clarified that his children were not “in any way, directly or indirectly, shareholders” of Perenco.

Elisabeth Borne gets in touch

Questioned on the same subject by the president of the EELV group Cyrielle Chatelain, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne stated that “if her intention is to comment on press articles, I tell her that my role is not to comment on press articles and that the minister has already had the chance to talk about it. “We are in a chamber, not in a court,” added Ms. Borne.

The HATVP opened an investigation into the minister on Tuesday following the publication of this investigation. The minister’s father, Jean-Michel Runacher, created this civil society called Arjunem in France in 2016, as part of an asset transfer, contributing about 1.2 million euros in shares, according to the Disclose investigation. This equity comes from hedge funds, established in Delaware, Ireland and Guernsey, and in which Perenco also had investments.
