The government intends to create a single benefit per dependent person within the state budget for 2023 to simplify access to benefits for people with disabilities, the minister of labor announced on Friday.
In the words of Minister Ana Mendes Godinho, who spoke to members of the Budget and Finance Committee in the context of the discussion on the state budget for 2023 (SB2023), this single term will serve to achieve “the simplicity of installments”. and “eliminating access is often difficult”.
‘We will also start building this service in 2023’he claimed.
According to the information presented by the minister, this single benefit will serve to reformulate and simplify social benefits for dependency, with “protection of rights and unification of systems”, with “modernisation, streamlining and greater efficiency”.
Regarding social investments on the ground, the minister announced that between the recovery and resilience plan (PRR) and the PARES program there are already 606 approved projects, covering 1,044 social responses.
“It is the largest social investment ever made in the country and represents a total investment of €675 million in social investment”emphasized Ana Mendes Godinho.
He added that the approved projects will benefit 27,000 elderly people and 12,000 children and people with disabilities.
He also said that district teams have been set up to oversee each of the approved projects to ensure their implementation.
The Minister of Labor also took the opportunity to recall that there is an open announcement for the expansion of the nursery network and a new notice will be opened for “innovative answers for active aging”, as well as another for home support services and for the Social Radar, for identifying isolated elderly people.
Asked about the extraordinary support measure for food for the social sector, Ana Mendes Godinho said that €18 million has been made available, which would bring about €5,000 on average for each institution, but that this amount does not necessarily correspond to reality, taking into account the fact that the amount was calculated based on the number of users.
