A container ship that beat the Pavilion of Liberia and transported “dangerous goods” flowed from India, the Indian authorities announced on Sunday, adding that the 24 crew members had been rescued. The MSC Elsa 3, a load of 184 meters long, which connected the ports of Vizhinjam with that of Kochi, in the state of Kerala (southern India), launched a relief call on Saturday.
The Indian navy aircraft took off and saw two life line rafts, while the container ship was about 70 kilometers from Kochi. “The 24 members of the on -board crew were rescued,” said the Ministry of Defense of India in a statement published on Sunday. The sailors were from Georgia, Russia, Ukraine and the Philippines.
“There are no oil leaks”
The Ministry of Defense did not specify what the dangerous products were. However, calcium carbide is used in the chemical industry, especially for fertilizer production and steel manufacturing. The container bearer also transported about 370 tons of fuel and oil, but “no oil leaks were reported immediately,” the statement.
