“It always deflates”: in the United States we now describe as “Taco Commerce” Trump’s actions (and does not appreciate this term at all)

Donald Trump’s various reversals in customs tasks are qualified by “Taco Commerce” investors for “Trump always chickens” (“Trump always ends up deflating”). An expression that bothers the US president.

A new change. After announcing last Friday the establishment of customs duties of 50% in European products on June 1, Donald Trump retreated three days later by extending the suspension of surcharges to the EU until July 9.

This is not the first time that the US president has been rejected after promising the imposition of Mirobal’s duties. Each time, the scholarships returned to the reach of the announced surcharges, before recovering the colors during the multiple falls of the White House tenant.

This is what stock market operators call the “Taco commerce”, reports CNN. “Taco” for “Trump always chickens”. Understand: “Trump always ends up deflating.” What encourages investors to take Donald Trump’s words with more tweezers and that no longer panic in the least of these ads.

“Do you call it to deflate? It’s called negotiation”

The idea behind this acronym “Taco” invented by Robert Armstrong, editorialist of The Financial Times, that is to say that investors no longer have to embark on a sales frenzy in each threat of Donald Trump in the customs tasks, since he will end up retiring, as recent months they have shown them, hanging them or lowering them.

Invited to react on this expression, Donald Trump was very upset on Wednesday, judging the “unpleasant” question. “Am I deflating myself? Oh, I never heard that. Do you say that because I reduced customs duties in China by 145% to 100% to another figure (30% now in Chinese products, editor’s note)?” He said. And to add about Europe: “After doing what I did, they said ‘we will gather when you want'”.

The White House tenant refers here to the announcement of a 50% surcharge addressed to the EU, suspended after a call with Ursula von der Leyen. “Do you call it to deflate? This is called a negotiation,” said Donald Trump, ensuring that his strategy consisted of establishing a level of customs duties “ridiculously high” before reducing them if the target countries agree to yield to some of their requirements.
