Compensation reduced by 10% for pregnant officials: “unacceptable sexist discrimination” for unions

Public services unions deplore the 10% drop in compensation for pregnant officials in case of ordinary disease license, evoking a “discriminatory measure.”

Public Services Unions affirmed on Friday “the immediate withdrawal” of the 10% drop in the compensation of pregnant officials in case of ordinary illness license, “a discriminatory measure of unacceptable gravity”, in a letter addressed to the government.

However, the government of François Bayrou has implemented since March 1, the reduction of 100% to 90% of the remuneration of public officials with a disease license, after a day of deficiency that does not apply to pregnant women.

The letter is sent to Prime Minister François Bayrou, to the Minister of Public Service, Laurent Marcangeli, and the minister delegate responsible for equality between women and men, Aurore Bergé. It is signed by eight organizations: Solidaire Service Public Service, CGT Public Service, UFFA-CFDT, FSU, CFE-CGC, UIAFP-FO, Public Service of UNSA, FA-FP.

“Sexist discrimination”

“Their political elections imply that women in pregnancy placed in the ordinary illness license (a house for pathological pregnancy or maternity leave) suffered (witnessed) a loss of remuneration of 10% from the first day of stop,” denounced the unions.

The eight organizations request “the immediate withdrawal” of this measure qualified as “manifest sexist discrimination” and “the total guarantee of salary maintenance for any pregnant woman placed on license for ordinary disease with medical advice, whatever nature”.
