Editorial. A “museum of horrors”? The unions only talk about purchasing power, but they push the cries of Orfraie when you propose to monetize holidays

The general secretary of the CFDT, Marylise Léon, is on the wrong way to calling the proposal of the Minister of Labor as a “horror museum to monetize the fifth week of paid vacation.

The idea of Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet to open the possibility of monetizing the fifth week is not new: it is good to “work more to win more.”

However, he has brought unions to his chair that already threaten to mobilize at the beginning of the school year. The chiefs of the five main union centers have planned to speak between them this Friday to harmonize their violins before the minister on the issue of paid vacations, but also on several measures that will be discussed at the beginning of the school year on work or unemployment insurance.

But at the specific point of the holidays, the Minister of Labor does nothing but propose additional freedom. Freedom of choice for workers!

“A new right”, without questioning the current rights and protections, and that “would remain in the hand of each employee,” said the minister. A new right that will be discussed between the employer and the employee. And who will obviously be subject to social couples. And therefore, a new right that can be “negotiated about its principle and its terms.”

Frankly, one wonders where evil is. Why such lifting shields, when, for once, do we offer a little more individual freedoms?

It’s like the time savings account

Especially because this proposal still looks a lot, this proposal. It is the equivalent of RTT redemption in large groups.

Then, Marylise Léon can say that “the number one issue is the question of purchasing power.” And that “they are not the employees themselves pay a little more space for Maniouver to complete the end of the month when cutting his license.”

The problem is that the purchasing power is not retained by companies: they pay more than twice in the gross salary responsible for the employee’s network. The progression of salaries is obviously contained by the weight of loads. I remind you that to increase an employee to the minimum wage by 100 net euros, it costs the employer 442 euros.

And then, we forget a substantive question in this controversy, it is that of wealth production. This measure, such as the idea of two vacation suppression, is done to increase the volume of work in this country.

We work less than other Europeans throughout life due to the unemployment of young people and older people, and within a year. Little less than 1,500 hours a year, against almost 1,700 in Germany or 1,800 in Italy.

Our possible GDP fell from only 1.3 % to 1 % …

A nation that no longer works is a nation that surrenders. So we stop pushing high screams as soon as a matter of working more, and we go back the sleeves.
