Natural disasters caused $ 135 billion (116 billion euros) of economic losses worldwide during the first half, compared to $ 123 billion during the same period of first year before, according to a Swiss estimate published on Wednesday, August 6.
The damage, inflated by Los Angeles fires and severe storms in the United States, has increased the bill for natural disasters insurance companies by $ 80 billion, compared to $ 62 billion in the first half of 2024, the reinsurer said in the press release.
