Uranium World Giant, Kazakhstan asks Russia to build its first nuclear energy plant

Russia carries out the construction of the first nuclear energy plant in Kazakhstan, a nearby ally of the Great Country in Central Asia, also the main world producer of Uranium.

Russia launched the work on Friday to build the first nuclear energy plant in Kazakhstan, a great country in Central Asia and the main world producer of Uranium, where China must build two others. According to a joint press release from the Kazakh nuclear agency and Rosatom of the Russian nuclear giant, these works are intended to “select the optimal site” drilling around fifty exploration wells and taking soil samples.

“The launch of engineering studies is a fundamental step in the safety, reliability and profitability of the project, depending on the press release. The launch ceremony took place near the middle village abandoned in Ulken, which borders the Balkhach, the second largest lake in Central Asia, in the south of the country.

The construction of this first nuclear energy plant had been validated in the autumn of 2024, after a non -surprising referendum, and Kazakhstan announced in June betting on its ally Moscow. China, through its company, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), must build the next two power plants, according to the Kazakh authorities, which ensure that the details of the projects are known by the end of the year.

First World Uranium Production

Kazakhstan, an immense former Soviet and ally of Moscow, is the main world producer of Uranium (43%) and the third natural supplier of Uranium to the European Union, but lacks electricity due to its internal consumption. If France and South Korea were also in operation to build these electrical plants, Kazakh’s decision to choose Russia and China is logical, since these two neighboring powers of Kazakhstan are essential in Central Asia.

The question of atom is sensitive to Kazakhstan, whose collective memory remains marked by the approximately 450 Soviet nuclear tests carried out in the northeast between 1949 and 1989, exposing 1.5 million people to radiation.
