A fine of just over 2 million euros was imposed on the French Electronic Commerce platform CDISCOUNT, a subsidiary of the Casino group, due to delays in the payment of invoices of its suppliers, announces the General Directorate of Competition, Consumption and repression of fraud (DGCCRF), most commonly designated repression of fraud.
“The Regional Directorate of Economy, Employment, Work and Solidarity (DREADS) delivered a fine of 2,100,000 euros of Nouvelle-Aquitaine against the Cdisunta company for delays in the payment of the invoices of its suppliers.” Compliance with the rules of the Commercial Code “.
The sanction pronounced against CDISCOUNT is invited after another heavy fine. At the beginning of the week, Fnac Darty was inflicted a fine of 3.9 million euros for the same reasons. More precisely, they were the “Darty Fnac” and “Darty & Son” that were sanctioned by the DGCCRF of two fines of a similar amount of 1.95 million euros. However, the group reacted quickly, saying that “these decisions” will dispute before the competent courts. “
A recurring problem
Delays in payment between companies, a recurring problem that sometimes leads to substantial holes in the cash flow of companies, in particular companies and very small SMEs, are responsible for an administrative fine of a maximum amount of 2 million euros. These delays have deteriorated “significantly in France” in 2024 and were ironed “above the European average”, with an average delay of 13.6 days, observed the banquera of France in early July.
In their last annual evaluation, the DGCCRF listed 737 establishments controlled in payment terms during the previous year, as well as 217 fines pronounced for a total of more than 35.8 million euros.
